About Little Light Pre-K:
Little Light was created in February 2019 by a group of existing Pre-K For All directors and lead teachers. Our mission: to empower children to be critical thinkers and creative problem solvers with strong social skills, so that they can succeed in their world and continue to learn in pursuit of higher education and for careers in the 21st century. Its educational program is based on the belief that children learn best within an environment that supports and respects each individual's unique development.
Job Summary:
Little Light's Teacher understands and promotes the school's mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. As a Teacher, you are expected to plan and facilitate maximum student learning by leading and instructing each student to meet and establish outcomes based on students' capacity to master appropriate curriculum. You would maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development, preparing required reports on students and activities. Successful candidates will possess the ability to identify and differentiate instruction for the learning needs of students and provide enrichment and intervention as needed. The Teacher will be responsible for creating an environment with high standards in learning, creativity, and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Instructional Planning & Delivery -
Responsibility for the academic progress of all students
Implement a coherent, research-based curriculum in consultation with ed. dir.
Teach students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in an inclusion setting and implement IEPs as necessary
Document all syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, rubrics and other instructional materials and methods
Use consistent school-wide practices and a variety of individualized methods to engage students in the classroom
Use technology tools (Apple) for instruction, planning, and communication to ensure student engagement
Student Assessment -
Measure student achievement and progress towards learning objectives using the school’s formative and summative assessment tools
Evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance on a variety of metrics
Provide ongoing and timely feedback to parents on their children’s progress towards meeting expectations and achieving goals
Submit all test data to the Principal in a timely manner
Complete all screening results and academic reports in a timely manner
Use student data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and personal practice
Develop and use a variety of assessment data to refine curricula and instructional practice
Learning Environment -
Create and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, to be creative, and to develop to their full potential
Establish, model, practice, and reinforce age-appropriate rules and discipline using school approved procedures; create and consistently use individual behavioral management plans as needed
Implement classroom procedures, systems and routines that provide structure for students
Ensure smooth operation of all classroom instructional functions without exceptions
Student Support & School Culture -
Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues and administrators
Establish, involve, and assist students in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of sample portfolios
Develop and use rubrics for evaluating student products and performances
Oversee and assist with student arrival/dismissal
Work closely with all members of school community, model citizenship, collaboration and support of one another
Non-Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities -

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
Little Light will consider candidates who are currently in school working towards an MA degree.
NY State Certification required for graduates
Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a diverse team of teachers and administrators
Knowledge of childhood development and demonstrated experience with executing planned lessons to meet the differential needs of each child
Strong written, grammatical, presentation, and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge and comfort level with instructional technology
Chinese Language a plus
Job Type: Full-time, 8 hour day
Pay: $56,070 - 68,250 per year
